Acceptance....

Acceptance
is sitting with the discomfort
the wishes for something
different
something more daring
more wild
more free
and still knowing
you are exactly where
you are supposed to be

you might ask:
and how do i know
this is really
where
i am supposed to be?
how do i know
there isn't something
better, bigger, bolder
just waiting for me
to claim it?
and God
and all His disciples
and the Masters
and the Prophets
would answer you the same:
Here
Now
This moment
is always
always
exactly where
you are supposed to be
there is nothing
ever
else to seek

and then the question
inevitably arises:
but i don't want
to be stuck here
forever
i have dreams, plans, goals
i have a vision
for this life
and that is the precise
moment
of Acceptance:
keeping the dreams alive
walking purposefully
towards them
all the while staying
in this Moment
all the while knowing
where you will one day arrive
will never bring you
any more happiness
any more joy
any less pain
any less sorrow
than is already
being offered to you
right Here
right Now
just settle in
to Now

the chief problem......

the chief problem
with waking up
is mostly
that it's permanent
no more snooze buttons
quick fixes
taverns
or rose gardens
not even a catnap
when you're weary
and bruised
to the bone
no matter the darkness
no matter the depths
to which humanity
may willingly
plummet
you cannot look away
those old escapes
dissolved
images burned
on retinas
behaviours pierced
on hearts
madness soiled
on souls
i pray for a heaven
i was told
i would find here
Rumi and Hafiz
the Masters
tell me to rejoice
for i am not
that which i see
but what if it was easier
when i was
what if it was easier
to be the darkness
than merely
to witness it
helpless
paralyzed
unable to stop
the devolution
in progress
Bhuddism taught me
to close my eyes
and stop my mind
Christianity told me
they were the only way
Spirituality hinted
that some were more deserving
and Enlightenment showed me
there was something to seek
so i walked away from it all
out into the empty field
where i discovered
the chief problem
with being nowhere
is that everyone else
seems to be
somewhere
