Day 15: You're not "Him": poem

waiting

i don't know why I'm here
or why I'm not
Lewis Hyde
James Hollis
Menzies
there is no truth
my soul does not already know
Time
i can no longer wait
my body suffers
for the knowing
of the unlived life
suburbia
a lull
short
even somewhat sweet
but still
my body screams
my eyelid flickers
across the room
books by the bedside
rugs strewn on floors
a book
unopened
all unopened
like hearts
waiting to be flung
out open windows
drape-less
exposed vistas
vulnerable mountains
they land
in patches of grass
falling open
to unread passages
unwalked paths
dark alleyways
strangers
with eyes averted
no one
really sees me
although once you did
sheets on clotheslines
speak of happier times
before knowledge
like dust
blew in with the wind
white turned grey
blessed night
obscured
All
my body refusing
to fall back asleep
jobs beckon
children cry
spouses demand
family calls
and still
we inch forward
and still
we free fall backwards
landing
on soft mattresses
clean sheets
family bbq's
the laughter of friends
red wine
black coffee
salmon steaks
well paying jobs
dental plans
free medical
only the fool
would ever walk away
enlightenment
consciousness
spirituality
like trenches of mud
we stand thigh high
screaming up at the moon
for a gravity pull
Be Here Now
Loving What Is
The Gift
elusive words
like the stars
stared at
through skylights
panes of glass
separating nothing
everything
fake food
bees in boxes
plastic houses
concrete hearts
prepackaged days
expired lives
we fit in
because we must
we bend and shape
or we would die
i sound melodramatic
to a world
reigned in
by necessity
i dream of the world
where death is but a doorway
if i thought there was a reason
i would stay
but today
i cannot conjure up the energy
to don the cloak
this world
demands i wear
where are You?
you keep me grounded
the Other
that cannot be bound by Time
ever marching us
towards the End
of life?
of breath?
of this beating heart?
nothing is real
but You
tears stream down the backs of my eyes
down my throat
along my heart
and into my stomach
they bloat my belly
and they heavy my steps
my skin browns in the sun
as i wait for the world to awaken
